Celebrating Wool Month 2023

It’s October. The air is becoming crisper, leaves are changing colours, and the warmth of cosy, woollen sweaters is beckoning. But did you know that October is officially recognized as Wool Month? This celebration of wool is a time to dive headfirst into the fabulous world of fleece! In this article, we'll unravel the background of Wool Month, and explain how Woolship is supporting Wool Month 2023.

What is Wool Month?

Wool Month isn't your run-of-the-mill celebration; it's a month-long fiesta of fluff! Think of it as a giant hug for wool, and everyone's invited

Hosted by wool-loving organisations like British Wool and the Campaign for Wool, Wool Months is all about spreading the word on wool's incredible versatility and eco-friendliness. It stretches throughout the month of October, and highlights the many uses of wool, from fashion to home decor to packaging.

Wool is more than just a warm and fuzzy textile; it's a sustainable and versatile natural fibre with a rich history. But since customers started flocking towards synthetic fibres in the 20th century, there has been an increasing need to promote the unique qualities of wool to support the wool industry.

Wool Month serves as a reminder of the importance of this age-old material, both from a cultural and environmental perspective.

What makes wool so wonderful?

We're not pulling the wool over your eyes here – we've chosen wool for our products because it's a baaa-rilliant fibre with incredible qualities:

Shear Sustainability: Wool is a sustainable fibre, as it is renewable, biodegradable, and has a lower environmental impact compared to synthetic alternatives. It's like Mother Nature's gift to sheep and us.

Quality and Comfort: Wool is known for its warmth, durability and insulation properties, making it perfect for cosy winter garments and or keeping packaged goods at a controlled temperature.

Supporting Local Farmers: British farmers work hard to keep us fed, and the wool industry has taken a hit in recent years, making sheep shearing unsustainable. By choosing British wool, we aim to support local wool producers.

Reusable: Once you are finished with our packaging, there are loads of great ways you can use your wool again, and again, and again.

WoolShip's Wool Month Promotion

During the entire month of October, WoolShip is offering a special discount on all their woollen products. This promotion is their way of encouraging people to embrace the warmth, comfort, and sustainability that wool offers.

By making high-quality wool products more accessible, WoolShip hopes to inspire individuals to make more eco-conscious choices in their shopping and to experience the joy of wearing and using wool. This initiative not only benefits their customers but also supports the broader goal of promoting Wool Month and the wool industry as a whole.
